on the subject of pepper spray... i was one person away from being
purse snatched at the grocery store a couple days ago... ( i feel
REALLY bad for the lady three feet from me that the guy picked to
rob ... how miserable and frightening to have everything taken... her
medication even!.. luckily she had her car keys in her pocket not her
purse) ... long story short, i feel safer on the trail than i do at
the grocery store now, but i was wondering where do you buy pepper
spray, like the kind to attach to car keys?

I bought my key chain size at a local sports store.

My mother found mine at the AAA Travel Store. They
keep it behind the counter so you have to ask for it.
Don't know if every AAA Travel Store sells this,
seeing how states have different rules about it.
We're in Cleveland.

Doodle.

Gun shops
Army navy surplus stores

Rules and regulations vary from state to state, so make sure you are
not caught with it by an officer of the law unless you have a Federal
Identification Card that says that you are legal to carry it. You
can obtain the license for just chemical propellant from your local
police department. You get 10 carded and a lifetime background
check, but you don't have to do anything special. Getting a Class A
LTC (which is what I have) involves a lot more training and
certifications.

And they WILL ask you at the Canadian border if you're packing pepper!
